As seen on FOX News, ABC, and CNN Online, the PowerCost Monitor is helping thousands of people across the United States and Canada save money on their electric bill.
The PowerCost Monitor is a wireless energy monitor for your home. It can tell you at a glance how much electricity your home is using from moment-to-moment and in total. Why wait for your electricity bill when you can see what you are spending on electricity as you spend it!
Tests in Ontario and elsewhere have proven that householders who use real-time feedback can reduce electricity use by as much as five to 20 per cent. This is the advantage of having real-time feedback on your electricity.
Real-time feedback means real savings for you. Make the PowerCost Monitor a regular part of your daily household routine.
If you're ready to put the PowerCost Monitor to work for you, click the red 'buy now' button in the order box near the top of this page.
Helping you Save
Start saving on your electricity bill right away with a PowerCost Monitor. The success of this simple, attractive device is based on the proven value of real-time feedback - helping householders save from five to 20 percent on their monthly electricity bills.
With A Powercost Monitor You'll Be Able To See At a Glance:
The amount of electricity your home is using from moment to moment;
The difference in electricity consumption caused by turning on and off the various electrical appliances in your home. The more electrical appliances you turn off, the lower the values displayed. The more appliances you turn on, the higher the values.
The total amount of money you are spending on electricity.
The PowerCost Monitor is an excellent tool to help you save. By keeping the current value of the Display Unit as low as possible you will use less electricity - up to 20 percent less every month.
And that means, not only are you saving on your electricity bill every month, but you're also reducing greenhouse gas emissions; and reducing demand on the power grid.
Display Features
The PowerCost Monitor features an attractive, counter-top Display Unit that looks like a small electric clock. At the push of a button it displays, in real-time, your moment-to-moment and total electricity costs in dollars and cents and in kilowatt hours.
You will also be able to see your peak energy cost within the last 24 hours. It also displays the time and outside temperature. A battery indicator lets you know when your battery power is low and a signal indicator lets you know the strength of the signal being received from the Sensor Unit.
How It Works
The PowerCost Monitor is a home energy monitor that shows you what your household's electricity consumption is from moment to moment and in total. From looking at the PowerCost Monitor, you can see in real time how much electricity your home is using. Your PowerCost Monitor's smart technology calculates your home's electricity use and displays that information in a way that we can all understand - in dollars and cents as well as in kilowatt hours. You simply have to program in your utility's electric rate.
Your PowerCost Monitor ™ Includes Two Components:
- An easy to install Sensor Unit that you can simply attach to the outside of your electric utility meter. Once fastened in place, the sensor reads the amount of electricity the household is consuming in real-time and transmits the information wirelessly to the Power Monitor, located inside the home.
- A wireless, durable Power Monitor that resembles a small digital clock. With a range of up to 100ft from the sensor unit, you can place it just about anywhere in your home - in the kitchen, on your nightstand or conveniently placed on the wall in your hallway. Anytime of the day, you can look at your Power Monitor to see:
- How much electricity your home is using in real time;
- How much money you are spending on electricity as you consume it;
- The highest amount you spent on your energy usage in a 24 hour period;
- The time, the temperature at meter location, signal strength and the battery strength of both the display and sensor units.
The PowerCost MonitorTM is compatible with over 90% are meters deployed in North America, including both traditional disk meters, and newer digital meters.
There are however specific models and limitations that prevents installation on every meter. The following list highlights the most common digital meters that have a pulse for the sensor to trigger off of and those that do not. For disk meters, if the sensor can "see" the black mark and disk from the front, then alignment is possible, provided there is no plate covering the disk.
If your meter is not listed, or if you have any questions as to why your meter is not supported, please feel free to email support@bluelineinnovations.com and a trained technician will respond to your query.

The display unit, located inside the home, receives a wireless signal from the sensor unit which is attached to the outside of your electricity meter. The sensor unit can be easily installed by the homeowner. The sensor unit transmits your meter information to the in-home display unit where your electricity information is displayed in kilowatt hours and dollars and cents.
The PowerCost Monitor is not a utility meter. The PowerCost Monitor simply displays your electricity usage in dollars and cents and kilowatt-hours. It is not a utility meter and is not intended for billing purposes. Data displayed on the PowerCost Monitor is provided for informational purposes only. Owing to timing of meter reads by your utility and combinations of flat rate charges and consumption-based charges, the "Total" readings on your display will not exactly match what you see on your electric bill.
| Note : The Power Cost Monitor measures total home energy consumption at the meter. To also measure the power consumption of individual appliances, consider purchasing the Power Cost Monitor as part of a Total Home Energy Monitor Kit. |
What's Included:
The Power Cost Monitor consists of:
1. A detection unit, known
as the transmitter, is affixed to an existing household
electromechanical utility meter with a simple ring clamp. This
transmitter tracks the energy consumed by counting turns of the meter
disk. This is the only component of the PowerCost Monitor™ that will be
in direct physical contact with the utility's electromechanical meter
and the clamp mechanism allows it to be attached to the outside of the
meter glass. It can also be quickly attached and detached without making
any changes to the existing meter.
2. The display unit, located
inside the home, receives a wireless signal from the transmitter and
displays the consumption information in real time and in dollars and
cents for the end user. Other information is also displayed such as time
and outside temperature.

Easy to read all during the billing cycle so that you know were you stand on your next electricity bill.
The Bad:
Unit goes to sleep if no signal comes from the reader unit and does not wake by itself...you have to push a button to wake it up. Data is lost when the unit is asleep.
The Bottom Line:
We are on a tiered billing system. The monitor is programmable for tiered billing. It is easy to see what your biggest energy users are and how much they cost to operate. Seeing the bill going up as power is used really encouraged us to turn things off.
The unit is easy to install and works as advertised to provide a real-time readout of overall household electric power consumption.
The Bad:
While the unit is easily calibrated to operate with an old-style electric meter with a spinning disk, in this mode the Cost Monitor is quite slow to display changes in power draw. This would not affect the overall accuracy of the cost monitor over the course time but makes it a bit more difficult to correlate changing electric power draw.
The Bottom Line:
-
easy to set up and use
The Bad:
I can't think of any
The Bottom Line:
a fine product
Setup was surprisingly easy overall, though a bit complicated if trying to use peak/off-peak rates. Provides an excellent view of electricity consumption by specific appliances. Useful to approximate electricity billing.
The Bad:
Wireless connection very fragile. Goes to "sleep" quite often. No software or capability to connect to a computer for data analysis. Limited usefulness beyond estimating usage/cost. Should be able to help manage consumption on a pro-active basis.
The Bottom Line:
This device could definitely be useful if it could be integrated into a home management system (e.g., x10) As a standalone device it is very limited in capability. The lack of any software, networking, or connectivity to a computer is a major deficiency.
Good display with lots of information
The Bad:
A bit tricky to install
The Bottom Line:
Very happy with product
It reminds EVERYONE to turn off lights! Made me understand my power bill/ the tiered levels of cost for my power.
The Bad:
This is NOT a bad point but you do have to be ready to figure out your power bill and set up the power monitor accordingly.... it is VERY worth the effort though - keeping my family aware of how much a turned on light (etc) costs!
The Bottom Line:
I absolutly recomend this product!!!!!
Wireless and digital read out.
The Bad:
Slow to show change in power usage
The Bottom Line:
Great product, very usefull
Easy setup & install
The Bad:
Well let me see...no, can't think of any.
The Bottom Line:
I like the unit and it works as advertised.
Large screens clear numbers
The Bad:
Time to set up
The Bottom Line:
Good job
Shows you your power usage in kilowatts/money spent in semi real time (updates every 30 seconds. Makes it easier to figure out what's killing your electric bill.
The Bad:
1. Constantly loses connection with the transmitter. 2. Your stuck using batteries that last about 1 billing cycle (30 days) in the receiver. No external DC power jack to plug an AC adapter into.
The Bottom Line:
It needs improvements but when it works its very useful.
Easy to install
The Bad:
Runs on batteries
The Bottom Line:
Good for the money.
I used the monitor on the mechanical utility meter at my Church. Worked great and allowed us at the Church to look for ways to save power.
The Bad:
I really bought the monitor to use at my house. I was not able to sucessfully attach it to the optical utility meter. I struggled with this for a couple of hours. I had the same experience at a neighbor's house.
The Bottom Line:
Please see what you can do to improve this product so it works with optical utility meters. I did not return it because it worked so well with the mechanical meter at my Church.
It is very user friendly and operates, setups, and works well.
The Bad:
The kh factor dose not match to my meter. my meter is 12 KH factor so it makes the acuracy is off. The infared signal is weak if you take it more that 10 feet away from the meter.
The Bottom Line:
Overall it is a good unit that just needs some adjustment.
Fast, easy to set up and accurate.
The Bad:
You actually do need to read the manual to get the setup right.
The Bottom Line:
We've used this for 8 months; to identify poor appliances, wasteful home practices and to estimate our use prior to a solar system installation. Superb.
Helps pinpoint those energy hogs that consume your $. As you turn off lights and other appliances you can see your usage (&your bill) drop. Helps in energy conciousness and conservation.
The Bad:
Will not measure less that 400 watts. Limited signal transmission. Sometimes difficult to mount on glass dome. Have been told by meter readers that it is illegal to mount on domes (though they haven't removed it).
The Bottom Line:
Good for energy consciousness and electrical usage awareness. A little pricey.
I know immediatly when the hot water tank and all others big electrical consumers are on.
The Bad:
This equipment is not sensitive anough to notice a 100 watts bulb on.
The Bottom Line:
It gives us the information on which are our big electrical consumers in the house.
The product was easy to install and sync. I purchased two. One was installed on a conventional meter without difficulty. The other was installed on a digital meter and the readings were not as accurate as on the conventional house meter.
The Bad:
The transmission frequency conflicted with an outdoor wireless weather transmitter. The meter would not sync until the weather device was disabled.
The Bottom Line:
Excellent product. With the installation of the power meter, the overall power usage during the summer months with air conditioning was reduced by 50%. The savings more than paid for the power meters.
nice idea
The Bad:
product is very difficult to get oriented correctly, and when there is sunlight on the device, it doesnt read at all.
The Bottom Line:
i wish I hadnt gotten the device. It just doesnt work
????
The Bad:
Have not been able to get it to work consistanley
The Bottom Line:
Great idea if it worked
Works as promised. Vedry useful in finding out what items in my house use how much electricty.
The Bad:
Sometime when it stops working it is hard to get started again but with a littler perseverance it works again.
The Bottom Line:
Gives me exactly the information I wanted although a little touchy at times
Product looks great
The Bad:
It has a tough time with batteries and operating through stucco
The Bottom Line:
When the unit operates for a couple of days, the information is terrific. It just needs to run longer.
It is great to see my electric consumption! When I see it high, I immediately try to figure out what is on. It is amazing to see your savings when you shut off all those lights your not using. It's also astounding to see how much electricity it takes to run your dryer!
The Bad:
You lose all your settings when you replace the batteries. Also when replacing betteries you lose your signal to the remote on your meter and it sometimes has a difficult time reconnecting.
The Bottom Line:
A great tool that saves you money by revealing your electrical usage. I've had several people see it and want one for their home. You have had several referals!
I was looking for this monitor and found it on your website where I purchasaed it immediatly. I have not used it yet because now that I have the monitor I am able to try it out at my convenience. I know that I will be able to find out how much power is required to run each electrial & electronic device in my home to see where I am losing power.
The Bad:
I do not see that there are or could be any bad points
The Bottom Line:
I really purchased this monitor to see where I could save the use of electrical power
easy to install.setup and use
The Bad:
None
The Bottom Line:
Quality Product Usefull Tool
Easy to set up Easy to read
The Bad:
None that I have found
The Bottom Line:
This Power Cost Monitor is great, however if packaged with an ammeter or other power gauge it would be fabulous!
Easy to install and program. Easy screen to understand. All info is read directly from the screen.
The Bad:
None that I could find
The Bottom Line:
Love the live monitoring of electrical use of the house. It's nice to predict my electric bill before it comes.
The meter accurately monitors your power usage either in $ or kilowatts. You can see what appliance or device used the most power and just how much it uses.
The Bad:
The exterior unit is a little touchy to get mounted just right. But once it is lined up properly it works in all kinds of weather and at all temperatures.
The Bottom Line:
Would highly recommend to anyone interested in conserving electricity.
Easy to set. Easy to read. Accurate.
The Bad:
None.
The Bottom Line:
Absolutely excellent!
Accurate, easy enough for my wife to understand.
The Bad:
wireless link disconnects sometimes, wish it had an AC converter (instead of batteries)
The Bottom Line:
Great product, would buy it again
None
The Bad:
I was never able to get it installed correctly and I ended up giving the complete package to Charity....
The Bottom Line:
Was a losss of money for me....
Easy to install. Easy to setup. Very happy with product
The Bad:
Could use dew point with temp.
The Bottom Line:
Very happy with product. I have droped my power usage 10% and could continue to do more.
Nice size disply - easy to read
The Bad:
Battery install in meter unit could be labeled better
The Bottom Line:
Excellent
The PCM has been effective in making us aware of our electric energy usage, changing our usage habits and identifying the most energy intensive devices.
The Bad:
Seal on outside units battery compartment leaks and has resulted in failure of unit twice. Unit never reads less than .2KW even if absolutely no power is being used.
The Bottom Line:
Good product for monitoring overall electric usage.
It has been very helpful and we have used it. You might not like this but I have loaned it to a number of my friends. We are sharing the cost and the savings amongst a number of my friends. One benefit is that we talk about how we are saving money by cutting our energy costs.
The Bad:
It is a little complicated to set up but once you do it one or two times it gets easier
The Bottom Line:
I think it has been a worthwhile investment
It works for a while (maybe 2-3 months),
The Bad:
Any type of voltage spike, or fluctuation, causes the meter to show "overspin" in the meter and then after MANY RESETS AND REPLACING BATTERIES NUMOROUS TIMES, the power meter mis-reads my power levels continuously. I think either there is something malfunctioning with my unit, or, its design is flawed and unacceptable.
The Bottom Line:
Junk
Easy to setup and install. Great information so you can save money knowing when you are wasting electricity.
The Bad:
None
The Bottom Line:
this product is great- should be a mandated part of every home.
